What clients usually ask first
Is it accurate enough for a technical audience?
I build from the real structures, data and mechanics of your subject, so it holds up when experts look closely — not a loose visual approximation. Every project starts with the groundwork: reading the source papers, breaking out the foundational textbooks and pulling up the latest research. I work through the science until the details are right.
Do you use AI to make these?
As a tool for the technical and prep work: rigging and simulation code, shaders, denoising and upscaling, research, and standing in for stock footage or even voiceovers, yes. And it's been a great addition to the toolset. Not yet for the animation itself. It can't do it believably or reliably on this category of animation, which is specialized enough that it remains built by hand, from the real structures and data.
How does a project start, and what do you need from me?
A short call to walk through the mechanism or device, then we develop a script and shot list before any 3D work begins, so there are no surprises once modeling starts. To kick off, a sketch, a paper, or a rough brief is plenty; existing models or a dataset shorten the road but aren't required.
Where can I use the final animation?
Wherever it needs to run: trade shows, conferences, investor pitches, your website, social. You get video at the resolution and format each venue calls for, plus stills pulled from the render for decks and print.
How long does this take?
Usually 6 to 12+ weeks, depending on length, the number of revision rounds, and whether all stakeholders are involved at each round. The first weeks are pre-production — research, script, storyboard, styleframes — so the story, science, and look are locked in before animation starts. Shorter single-concept pieces land near the low end; multi-concept, high-complexity work runs longer.
What does it cost?
For one minute of 3D animation, projects range from $16,000 to $26,000. Price scales with length, scope, and the number of concepts covered, with dense molecular and mechanism-of-action work at the higher end. Send over what you have and you'll get a clear quote before any work begins.
